FORE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
FORE
Merit Scholarships
AHIMA's Foundation of Research and Education (FORE)
offers Merit Scholarships to outstanding students pursuing
associate, baccalaureate, or advanced degrees toward careers
in Health Information Management. Applicants must complete
the FORE Scholarship Application Form and provide evidence
of AHIMA membership and acceptance into an accredited HIA
or HIT program. Three letters of reference must also be provided.
Most scholarships are open to all eligible applicants. In
addition, Diversity Scholarships highlight the achievements
of minority students, the Esther Mayo Sherard Scholarship
is awarded to an outstanding African American student, and
the Redi-Tag Corporation Scholarship is available to a single
parent. Submissions must be received by May 31, 2002.
Educational
Loans
FORE
also offers educational loans to students pursuing degrees
in health information management or related graduate degrees,
as well as to students enrolled in coding specialist programs
associated with a regionally accredited college or university.

Grant-In-Aid
and Dissertation Assistance Awards
Grant-In-Aid
and Dissertation Assistance Awards fund studies that are pivotal
to the profession's leadership role in health informatics
research and its application to healthcare policy and practice,
as well as to the vitality, visibility and viability of the
profession and the health information manager.
Practice
Solutions and Best Practice Awards
The
Practice Solutions and Best Practice Awards have been developed
to encourage and promote the sharing of information among
health information management professionals. The Awards program,
and its associated Clearinghouse, will facilitate the exchange
of ideas and solutions that positively impact practice, providing
HIM professionals with the tools to perform with excellence.
